Members attend in person President Tony Parisio, Red Leighton, Ken Oster, Rick McKernan,
Jerry Sullivan, Larry Fick, Deb Swanegan, Mike Russell, Ed Musterman, Charlie Langreder,
and Mike Hackett. Zoom were Scott Stager and Mary Dewey. Special Guest was Tony’s
daughter Carmelina who finish 5 th place in the stock division of the Soap Box Derby and our
speaker John Scales from Job Point

Birthday/Anniversary: Red and his lovely wife Dorcas celebrate their 79 th wedding anniversary;
Larry and Paula Fick celebrate their 59 th wedding anniversary, and Tony and his wife 11 th
wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 11 th , Nadia Ryakmyathullov birthday on June 13 th
Paying the Pig: Tony paid the pig for his name in the paper from the Soap Box Derby.

There will be a club voting on June 20 th meeting.
Board Meeting on Thursday, June 16 th with three funding request. They are:
Columbia College – Girls Who Game – Regan Ubinas – $2700
Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture – Billy Polansky – $2000
Access Arts – Lisa Franco – $5000
Deb Swanegan talked starting a Junior Optimist Club. We will have meeting with International
Junior Optimist leader by zoom after June 1. Rick, Mary Deb and Tony will be at this zoom
meeting.
Please sign up for the upcoming Family Fun Fest that will be at COSMO Park from 6 to 8 pm.
Will have only 1 shifts until 2 shifts. The shift will be from 5 to 8 pm. This will take place on
Wednesday, June 15 th with a Juneteenth Theme.
Jake Jolly will have a sign out this week for the Show Me State Games, which will be on
Sunday, July 24 th and 31th. Please look for it.
International Optimist Conversion will start on Wednesday, June 29 th and end on Saturday, July
3 in Reno, NV. Jerry Sullivan and Mary Dewey will be attending.
Rick McKernan would like to Thank everyone who came out Sunday, June 12 and helped out at
the Soap Box Derby this year. We had 53 drivers in 3 divisions. Between Evan and Rick, they
both had over 100 hours of work in this event and it was a very hot day. These winners were
Drew Schilling for Stock Division the son of Kelly and Evan Schilling who are members of the
club, Macklin Carter for Super Stock Division, and Megan Plum from Kansas City for the
Master Division.
