Upcoming events for May for the Downtown Optimist Club
HyVee is still saying No for us to come back there for our meeting. The next 4 meeting we will
be meeting at Shakespeare Pizza South of town.
In May 
Mary would like to Thank everyone who came out and helped for the Bike Safety Rodeo this
Saturday, May 14 th . We had a small turn out this year. So, we will offering this again in
September at the North East Park in doors or the old fairground from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
May 18 th  from 5 to 8 with 2 shifts, which are 5 to 6:30 and 6:30 to 8:00 pm is Family Fun Fest
at COSMO Park with a theme of “Bee Kind to Your Mind”. We will have an information booth
there. Please sign up to help.
May 19 th Board meeting with one funding from Fun City Youth Academy for $500.00 at the
Hampton Inn and Suites.
May 21th is the 4-H BBQ at the Boone County Fairgrounds from 4 to 7 pm. Cost is $12.00
ahead of time and at the door will be $15.00. Attached is the flyer.

Bringing Out The Best In Kids Since 1936

May 28 th  from 10 to 5 pm there is NOW get together for ZONE 1, 2 and 3 at the Sunrise
Optimist Club. There will brats, hamburger and drinks provided and side dishes will come club
member in each zone. Cost is $10.00 for the food and donation to play in the cornhole
tournament. Our zone is support to be bringing desserts to this party. Attach the flyer
Reminder Rick is looking for drives for Sunday, June 12 for the Soap Box Derby. Will bring a
sheet for sign up to drive the kids back up the hill with their cars. Rick passed out the sign-up
sheet for the drives to sign up for 2 hours shift. Mizzou swim team will be helping this year
again at the end of the hill to load the cars onto the trailer.
There will be 2 high school scholarship giving out each high schools in Columbia. They are
Battle, Hickman, Rock Bridge, and Douglass High School.
Guest Speaker: Grant Pierce (2 nd Place Oratorical), he is home schooled here Columbia, MO.
Olivia Ramsey (Essay winner) is a senior at Rock Bridge High School. Both of them shared
their Essay and Oratorical.
